On May 28th and 29th, the picturesque town of Domodossola (VB) hosted the TM2 of the RESQTOOL project, organized by FILMS. Representatives from the 13 member companies of the consortium gathered to review the ongoing work, share updates on the activities undertaken and define the next steps. This meeting marked a crucial moment for the advancement of the project, co-financed by the European Union, which aims to revolutionize industrial recovery processes with a focus on sustainability.
The RESQTOOL project has two primary objectives:
- Reduce the carbon footprint of the Zinc Process
The goal is to make the zinc recovery process more sustainable by reducing carbon emissions and overall environmental impact. Lowering the carbon footprint is essential to mitigate climate change and promote eco-friendly industrial practices. - Develop an advanced and environmentally friendly chemical recovery process using reagents derived from agro-industrial waste
This innovative approach involves using waste materials from the agro-food industry as the basis for chemical reagents that will be employed in the recovery of the Critical Raw Materials that are used for the production of hardmetals, transforming waste into valuable resources. This not only helps reduce waste but also promotes a circular and sustainable economy.
We are excited about the innovative solutions emerged from this meeting. Teamwork and knowledge sharing among consortium members are essential to progress towards a sustainable future, where green technologies and environmentally friendly industrial processes are in the spotlight.
The RESQTOOL project represents a significant step towards more sustainable resource management and the protection of our planet for future generations. With the goal of developing cutting-edge, low-impact chemical recovery practices, the consortium will meet again in January 2025 for TM3 in San Sebastián (Spain).
